In April 2015, two CAPPD members participated in the G7/G20 parliamentarians’ conference in Berlin, Germany in the lead up to the G7 Summit. The theme of the conference was women’s economic empowerment. Following the conference, CAPPD members and other parliamentarians from G7 countries communicated the outcome from the conference, the ‘Berlin Parliamentary Appeal’ to Chancellor Merkel.
 
With the appeal in hand, Ms. Merkel brought together women leaders from G7 countries in September for a dialogue on women’s empowerment. The dialogue concluded with a resolution that included specific reference to the Berlin Parliamentary Appeal.
