In preparation for Budget 2017, stakeholders were invited to submit briefs with recommendations to be submitted to the Minister of Finance.
Action Canada for Sexual Health and Rights submitted a pre-budget brief that touches upon investments in Canada and abroad. Domestically, recommendations include increasing investments in health care (with a focus on sexual and reproductive health), the health and safety of sex workers, and child care. Globally, recommendations include increasing Canada’s official development assistance (ODA), specifically in areas traditionally neglected in Canada’s international assistance related to sexual and reproductive health and rights and gender equality.

All submissions will be translated and circulated to members of the Standing Committee on Finance and posted to the website from which a report will be developed and shared by December 2016. In September, the Committee will invite selected groups and individuals to appear as witnesses during the pre-budget hearings.
