This year marks the 25^th anniversary of the 1994 Cairo International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD). The conference generated a remarkable Programme of Action recognizing sexual and reproductive rights, women’s empowerment and gender equality as crucial to sustainable development. The Nairobi Summit on ICPD25 will bring together United Nations (UN) agencies, governments, civil society, and advocacy groups for a high-level conference to advance the implementation of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) Programme of Action. To achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals by 2030, it is important to celebrate progress made in SRHR while increasing efforts to achieve ICPD’s goals for all. The Government of the Republic of Kenya and the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) will be hosting the Summit in Nairobi, Kenya from November 13 to 15, 2019.
