Canada’s review before Committee on rights of persons with disabilities

April 3 – 4, 2017

Canada will be reviewed for the first time by the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Action Canada for Sexual Health and Rights submitted a shadow report in advance of Canada’s review, which examines violations of Articles 16, 17, 24 and 25 of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities with respect to sexual abuse, forced sterilization, the right to health, specifically sexual and reproductive health, and the right to education, specifically inclusive comprehensive sexuality education. Read [...]

UN Human Rights Commission session 34

February 27 – March 24, 2017

The 34th session of the UN Human Rights Commission includes negotiations on resolutions pertaining to the rights of the child, human rights defenders, and the right to privacy, among others. Panel discussions are being held on preventable maternal mortality and morbidity and human rights, the annual full-day discussion on the rights of the child, and the annual interactive debate on the rights of persons with disabilities. Learn more »
