IPCI Statement of Commitment formally submitted to Prime Minister Trudeau

In January 2019, Canadian Association of Parliamentarians on Population and Development (CAPPD) Chair Dr. Hedy Fry formally submitted a letter to Prime Minister Trudeau outlining the outcomes of the 2018 International Parliamentarians Conference on the Implementation of the International Conference on Population and Development (IPCI). The event was hosted in Ottawa, Canada in October 2018 and culminated in the adoption of the Ottawa Statement of Commitment, a bold and action-oriented declaration that builds upon the six previous IPCI commitments.

IPCI Conference 2018

From October 22-23, CAPPD was pleased to host to the 7th International Parliamentarian Conference on the Implementation of ICPD (IPCI) alongside the Government of Canada, the Inter-American Parliamentary Group on Population and Development, the United Nations Population Fund, the European Parliamentary Forum on Population and Development, and CAPPD Secretariat, Action Canada for Sexual Health and Rights.

ParlAmericas Group of Women Parliamentarians holds its 10th meeting on women’s healthcare

In September 2014, the Group of Women Parliamentarians, a permanent working group of ParlAmericas (a hemispheric organization composed of 35 national legislatures from North, Central and South America), held its 10th meeting in Santiago, Chile, under the theme of women’s healthcare. Much of the meeting focused on 20 years of implementation of the Programme of Action of the 1994 Cairo International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD).
